Which Accessories for the Insta360 Luna Ultra? microSD, Filters and Handle, Researched from the Maker’s Information

Once you buy the Insta360 Luna Ultra, the small gimbal camera, you wonder about microSD cards, screen protectors, ND filters, wide-angle lenses and a battery handle. But searches mix products for the Luna Ultra, the Luna Pro and other cameras. Which accessories should you choose for the Luna Ultra?

This article goes through the accessories sold for the Insta360 Luna Ultra, by category, using the maker’s own information and what the sales pages say. I have not used the camera or these accessories on this blog, so this is a summary of public information. I also think about which items could help when using it with Spirula Studio (software that builds a 3D scene from video or photos).

This is the state as of October 17, 2026.

What I looked at: scope and method

I looked at three things: which accessories the maker officially offers for the Insta360 Luna Ultra, which third-party accessories are common, and what you can check to know a given accessory really works with this camera.

• Products: I picked representative items per category from the official store pages and from Amazon search results. My criteria were that the listing names the camera, the item is new and in stock, and it is not an item for a different model.
• How I judged compatibility: the camera name in the listing title and the maker’s compatibility charts or recommended lists. Items whose title does not name the camera are included only when another source backs them, and I say what that source is.
• Ratings and prices: I did not use Amazon customer reviews. Prices appear in the product cards below, as of the time they were fetched, and they change.
• Some official items are sold mainly through Japanese shops and are left out here; the Japanese version of this article lists them.

Because this is not based on reading customer reviews, I cannot say how an item feels to use. Under each category I list what to check before you buy.

The basics of the Luna Ultra to know first

The maker’s information says the following.

• Battery handle, neck mount, magnetic mount, wind guard, a handle with a 1/4-inch screw hole, carry bag and cross-body strap are listed as shared by Luna Ultra and Luna Pro in Insta360’s compatibility chart.
• Lenses, filters, the slide-on case and the mini fill light are model-specific. The compatibility chart marks each as “not supported" on the other model.
• microSD cards must be UHS-I, V30 or faster and exFAT; UHS-II does not work. Insta360 publishes a list of tested cards.
• Accessories are not interchangeable with Osmo Pocket cameras, because the connection and body size differ.

So with the Luna Ultra it helps to separate official dedicated items, items shared with the Luna Pro, and third-party items.

microSD cards: where the footage is stored

The memory card the video is saved to. Look for large capacity and stable write speed. V30 means a minimum sustained write speed of 30 MB/s for video, and A2 is a rating for app performance; picking from the maker’s recommended list is the safe route.

ND and other filters: for bright scenes

An ND (neutral density) filter works like sunglasses for the lens. It lets you keep a natural-looking shutter speed (how long each frame is exposed) even outdoors in bright light.

A wide-angle lens widens the field of view. It helps in tight rooms or where you cannot step back.

A way to feed power from outside instead of relying on the internal battery.

Straps and mounts: carrying and wearing

Which of these help for 3DGS in Spirula Studio?

Source material for 3DGS is video that moves around the same place and sees it from many directions. The Luna Ultra is a handheld gimbal camera you can move while shooting, so it looks usable for this.

• Battery handle: adds battery capacity and is described as doubling as a tripod.
• microSD card: videos for 3DGS tend to be long, so spare capacity from a recommended card is reassuring.
• Tripod or stand: useful when you hold a fixed position, for example when circling a person. But 3DGS source material is basically shot while moving, so a fixed camera has limited use.
• External power: it helps with long shoots, but the camera can still stop from heat. (How operation differs is covered in my comparison of the Pocket 4 / 4P and Luna Ultra / Pro, in Japanese.)

I have not tested any of these for 3DGS capture on this blog.

Discussion: how to choose without guessing

Going category by category, three points guide the choice.

• Separate dedicated and shared items: lenses, filters and the slide-on case are Ultra-only. Check for “Ultra" in the title so you do not buy a Luna Pro item.
• Official items are mostly sold in Japan through Insta360’s shop on Rakuten and electronics stores: the Japanese version of this article covers them.
• For third-party items, look for “Luna Ultra" in the title: wide-angle lenses, variable ND filters and neck mounts are on sale.

An order that should avoid waste: first a microSD card and a screen protector, then filters or the battery handle once you know what you want to shoot. This is my view.

Limitations: what this article cannot tell you

• Insta360’s official neck mount was not in the Amazon results I used, so it has no card here.
• The maximum microSD capacity for the Luna Ultra is stated inconsistently by Insta360 (cards above 1 TB are not recommended), so I could not settle it.
• I have used neither the camera nor the accessories, so feel, ease of fitting and real battery life are not tested.
• I did not use Amazon customer reviews. For items with few ratings, the ratings may be skewed.
• Prices and stock change daily. The price in a card is the value at the time it was fetched.

Summary: start with what the maker can confirm

Luna Ultra accessories split into official dedicated items, items shared with the Luna Pro, and third-party items. Check each title for “Luna Ultra" to avoid mixing it up with Luna Pro items.
